Hey it’s Tony from LearnAutoBodyAndPaint with another live stream. Today’s topic is How To Paint Any Car or Project Yourself Step By Step In 15 minutes.
Check out the new present Tony’s wife gave him.. It’s a new lawn mower and he’s going to customize it and make it awesome!
We’re going to paint it the same color. We’ll scuff it with 400-grit and base right on top of it. You don’t need to prime this because it’s in really good condition.
On the other hand, if you have peeling, dents, metal showing and other body work, then that’s when you need to prime some areas.
You can see my body filler has some glaze on top of it. I’m using Advantage and it’s a pretty good deal. You always want to mix your filler up. Then, this is the hardener that we’re mixing up pretty well too.
Now, we’re using a little wax and grease remover to clean the areas. Remember, for every golf size of body filler, you need to put around 6-8 drops of hardener.
We let it dry for about 20 minutes then block it down with 150-grit sand paper. You can also just finish dry sanding it with 400-grit but I feel that you always get a better cut when wet sanding.
One thing that you don’t want to do is wash it with wax and grease remover after you sand it.
In this project, we’re using our Atom Mini X16 Spray Gun. It’s a beautiful spray gun and works really nice. If you want to learn more about the Atom Spray Guns, head on over to Zoolaa.
If you are spraying with a big metal flake, you need to use a 1.8 to 2.0 tip size to make sure that your metal flake will come out of your nozzle. Otherwise you’ll jam it all up, nothing is going to come out except air.
If you mix your silver flake right into your clear coat, you mess up your job if it runs. But by using an intercoat and with basecoat like this, it is hardener to run because you’ll need to put light coats of base in it until you get your desired pearl or flake effect.
When spraying candy, you need to
