The #BossPainter is back with another video on Buffing out Hard Water Spots on BLACK PAINT.
We have some really bad water spots on this BMW i3. Check out this hood and see how nasty it it is.
The only thing that can take it off is to water sand it with 2000-grit and buff it. I’ve seen other people on YouTube about using a clay bar or vinegar and those other stuff but I personally think that won’t do the trick. It will not take the spots out. The only effective thing to do is to buff it out, especially if it’s this bad.
It looked like this side was under a sprinkler system because you don’t see water spots on other side. It’s mostly seen on the other side.
What we will be doing is wet sanding it with 2000-grit and buffing it out with 3M Perfect-It Compound and Foam Pad Glaze.

Before you do any kind of buffing, you need to make sure that the surface is clean. Water spots slowly dissipate as you go towards the other side of the car. It’s not as bad.
Let’s go ahead and buff the hood and the front grill. Depending on how good a job you want it to be, you may also want to pop out the windshield washer nozzles to avoid burning them. Alternatively, you can tape them up, which is what I might do.
