Introducing The Warwick 980H HVLP Spray Gun
Seen enough? Get your Warwick 980H HVLP Solvent Based Spray Gun Here.
If you’re looking for a dependable high quality spray gun that you can rely on, then look no further.
The Warwick 980H series spray guns are the top of the line when it comes down to high quality Asian made spray guns.
We’ve tested this Warwick 980H against the DeVilbiss FinishLine FLG-654 series. Honestly they are relatively close in cost, and both made in Asia (Taiwan). FinishLine Waterborne Value Kit FinishLine Waterborne Value Kit
After adjusting the DeVilbiss and sprayed a few test sprays, it just didn’t feel right in my hands. The grip on the DeVilbiss was just awkward.
It didn’t feel like you had full control of the gun. Plus it didn’t spray as expected. Even with all settings and paint materials set correctly, it did not have the best fan pattern.
I was disappointed.
But I still delivered a jaw-dropping paint job on the Mercedes SLK project that we completed here at the LABAP headquarters.
Here’s a picture of it below sprayed with the DeVilbiss spray gun.
I would say 35% of paining is the “gun” itself. The rest is knowing how to set the gun and how to spray with the gun. Even if it feels different in your hand.
You need to adjust with the gun and learn how it sprays so you can correct where it’s wrong (if it is…)
Of course, other guns may feel the same or better in your hand, but I must say, the Warwick has more of a SATA feel to it.
I own a few SATA guns including the SATA Mini Jet, The SATA RP and the SATA 3000.
But hands down, for the money, craftsmanship, feel and spraying abilities, I am Warwick all the way. These guns hold, feel and spray amazing.
I wouldn’t be promoting these guns if they were your average sprayer.
They’re all we use now at the LABAP headquarters. That’s how much we like them.

Hi Tony
Why so many tip sizes? What tip size to use when?
Thanks
Chris
hey Chris! They are used for spraying different materials. I did a blog post on this a while back. the 1.3-1.4 tip size is basically for overall automotive painting. The 1.0 – 1.2 is for smaller touch ups and door jambs. I like and recommend the 1.2. And when you get into 1.7 – 2.0, it’s mainly for painting thicker primers like 2k and epoxy primers. You can still use a 1.4 for primers. All you have to do is reduce your primer a little more. Hope that helps!
